European AM Industry Embraces Advanced Ti-6Al-4V Metal Powders

PyroGenesis Inc, based in Montreal, Canada, has secured its first commercial order for Ti-6Al-4V (Ti64) powder using its NexGen plasma atomisation technology. The order comes from a leading but undisclosed European engineering and science firm specializing in Additive Manufacturing (AM). This marks a significant milestone for PyroGenesis in the European AM sector, especially in aerospace applications.

The client had previously tested PyroGenesis’s Ti64 coarse powder, which recently gained approval from a major global aerospace company. The powder’s high quality results from years of innovation and engineering in the NexGen plasma atomisation process. PyroGenesis confirmed that production has been completed and shipments will begin within weeks. This deal underscores PyroGenesis’s growing role in supplying aerospace-grade powders critical for AM.

CEO P. Peter Pascali highlighted the strategic importance of the customer, describing them as a regional technology hub with advanced R&D capabilities. He expressed optimism about future contracts that will leverage this partnership’s significance. The European AM industry’s increasing adoption of high-quality Ti-6Al-4V powders aligns with broader aerospace and engineering sector trends toward lightweight, high-strength materials.
