PYBAR to Drive Hillgrove Antimony-Gold Project Underground Development in NSW

Hillgrove project

Larvotto Resources has appointed PYBAR Mining Services as the underground development contractor for the Hillgrove antimony-gold project in New South Wales, Australia. This agreement marks a critical milestone in resuming underground mining activities, scheduled to start in Q4 2025.

Strategic Underground Development and Operational Scope

Under the contract, PYBAR will deliver approximately 20km of new underground tunnels over four years, including decline and lateral development. The company will provide full-service operations, including ground support, haulage, rehabilitation, and statutory supervision. As a result, the Hillgrove project will enhance Larvotto’s operational efficiency and safety standards.

The underground areas—Metz, Garibaldi, and Clarks Gully—will receive integrated development solutions. PYBAR’s equipment and personnel deployment is expected to ensure timely execution, complementing the ongoing EPCM upgrade of Larvotto’s processing plant with MIQM.

Global Antimony Supply and Market Implications

The Hillgrove project aims to produce approximately 40,500oz of gold and 14,000t of antimony concentrate annually, yielding roughly 5,000t of refined antimony. Consequently, this represents up to 7% of global antimony supply, strengthening Australia’s position as a major antimony supplier. Funding for Hillgrove’s development was secured through a A$70m equity raise and a A$105m senior secured bond, fully covering capital and working capital needs

Larvotto’s strategic contracts with PYBAR and MIQM are expected to maintain the development schedule, targeting first production in 2026. This coordinated approach ensures operational synergies, risk mitigation, and sustainable project execution.

ScrapInsight Commentary

The Hillgrove project will significantly influence global antimony supply, potentially stabilizing prices amid tight markets. PYBAR’s underground expertise reduces development risk, while the dual contracts support efficient plant upgrades. These developments highlight Australia’s growing role in the critical metals supply chain and circular economy potential.
