Ukrainian pipe maker delivers API 5CT-compliant tubulars for corrosive drilling in Tuscany’s salt extraction industry
Casing Pipes Deployed in Harsh Salt Mining Conditions
Ukrainian manufacturer Interpipe has begun supplying casing pipes to Italy’s salt mining sector in Tuscany’s Pisa province. The 127 mm seamless pipes, designed for highly corrosive environments, are being used in specialized drilling operations within historic salt mines. Manufactured to meet API 5CT standards, the products deliver corrosion resistance and structural integrity, vital for operations in chemically aggressive settings.
EU Demand Drives Niche Pipe Development
Interpipe has made the European Union a strategic focus, tailoring its production to meet demanding niche markets. The company now offers over 250 customized tubular solutions, many aimed at critical sectors such as pharmaceutical-grade and agricultural salt production. This diversification supports growth in regions where high-performance casing and tubing are essential, particularly in geologically and chemically extreme drilling operations.
Sustainability Gains Surpass EU Climate Targets
In parallel with its technical innovations, Interpipe has significantly reduced its environmental footprint. In 2024, the company achieved a 61% cut in CO₂ emissions per ton of seamless pipes versus 2010 levels—already ahead of the EU Green Deal 2030 target of 55%. The company has set a further goal of a 26% additional reduction by 2030, aligning with EU decarbonization ambitions and reinforcing its role as a low-emission supplier for industrial Europe.
ScrapInsight Editorial View:
Interpipe’s entry into Tuscany’s salt mining market underscores a rising trend: demand for specialized tubulars in corrosive applications is growing across Europe. The synergy between product performance and sustainability also positions the company as a valuable partner in regions enforcing tight environmental standards. As EU industries seek both technical reliability and low-carbon supply chains, Ukrainian manufacturers like Interpipe are poised to fill the gap, especially in high-spec, low-volume sectors.
