Taruga Expands Thowagee Exploration Following High-Grade Lead and Silver Results

Geochemical and Rock Chip Sampling Program Underway

Taruga Minerals (ASX:TAR) has launched an expanded exploration program at its Thowagee Project in Western Australia, targeting polymetallic mineralisation with a focus on lead, silver, and zinc. The move follows a series of high-grade rock chip results from the historical Thowagee Mine.

The enhanced exploration includes geochemical soil sampling and additional rock chip sampling, with soil results expected in the coming weeks. These will be overlain with geophysical datasets—including magnetics, gravity, and VTEM—to evaluate structural trends, geochemical responses, and mineralisation potential across shear zones.

Recent rock chip samples have delivered exceptional grades, including:
  • 13% lead and 102 g/t silver
  • 12.2% lead, 170 g/t silver, 0.7% zinc
  • 12.9% lead, 103 g/t silver, 0.8% zinc, and 0.9 g/t gold
Taruga confirmed that these represent the highest silver grades identified by the company to date. The presence of mineralisation outside the known quartz and galena veining suggests a broader mineralised system and the possibility of untapped polymetallic potential.

Strategic Expansion in a Historic Mining District

The soil sampling data, once analysed alongside petrology and petrophysics assessments, will help define future steps, including surface geophysical surveys and target generation for drilling. Taruga's strategic approach is aimed at refining exploration techniques and unlocking value in underexplored zones.

According to Mining.com.au, Taruga has exercised its option to acquire 100% ownership of the Thowagee Project, which covers the Thowagee Mine and Thowagee Bore—two historical mining sites known for polymetallic deposits in hydrothermal veins. These lie adjacent to Taruga’s other holdings in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia.

Historically, the Thowagee Mine produced 15.2 tonnes of lead and 5,878 grams of silver from concentrate, highlighting the site's mineralisation potential.

Taruga Minerals, with a market capitalisation of $6.35 million, continues to build a portfolio focused on copper and rare earth exploration across South Australia and Western Australia.
