Schoeller Gruppe Re-Enters Power Plant Market, Targets China and Korea

German stainless pipe specialist eyes global energy sector with quality improvements and geopolitical tailwinds

Schoeller Gruppe, a German manufacturer of welded stainless steel pipes, has officially re-entered the power plant business after a five-year hiatus, the company confirmed following recent business development missions to China and South Korea.

The decision was driven by a combination of geopolitical shifts, enhanced quality control, and greater process stability, all of which have improved Schoeller's competitiveness. The company also cited favorable sourcing conditions from material suppliers as a key enabler.

Strategic Engagement in Asia

Schoeller’s sales team spent two weeks visiting major energy and infrastructure companies in China and power plant, offshore, and heat exchanger specialists in Korea. These meetings provided updated market intelligence and resulted in at least one concrete inquiry from a Chinese firm, signaling early success.

‘Made in Germany’ Still a Trusted Standard

“Schoeller and the ‘Made in Germany’ label still carry strong recognition in our core markets,” said manager Bernd Jansen. “In internationally tendered projects where Chinese suppliers are excluded, we enjoy a level playing field that offers a significant competitive edge.”

The company's return to the power generation segment is seen as a strategic expansion beyond its existing industrial and infrastructure customer base.
