Ukraine's parliamentary committee on economic development backed an industry proposal to establish a steel support fund. Ukrmetallurgprom President Oleksandr Kalenkov presented the critical request during a recent legislative meeting. Ukrainian steel mills face severe operational disruption from Russian attacks, European trade barriers, and high rail transport costs.
As a result, domestic producers urgently need state-supported financial mechanisms to maintain industrial operations. The proposed mechanism mirrors the existing Ukrainian Energy Support Fund to direct capital toward emergency equipment repairs.
