In contrast, the company also expands EAF capacity at Setouchi Works with 500,000 tons per year and Yamaguchi Works with 400,000 tons per year. However, total project financing includes up to 179.9 billion yen in government support under Japan’s industrial policy framework.

Nippon Steel aims to increase its worldwide steel production capacity to more than 100 million tons annually by 2030. Meanwhile, the company continues strategic investment in US Steel, allocating nearly $11 billion by 2028 to strengthen its global footprint.

Steel demand is expected to grow steadily in India and other emerging economies driven by infrastructure and industrial development.
