Central Mining SEW EURODRIVE Equipment |
Central Mining is advancing its conveyor gearbox modernization program by installing new SEW-EURODRIVE equipment. This strategic upgrade targets outdated gearboxes to improve reliability and production stability. As a result, the plant aims to prevent emergency shutdowns and enhance personnel safety in its crushing operations.
The modernization initiative began two years ago with the overhaul of key gearboxes on the K-2 main conveyor. Currently, one gearbox undergoes major repairs, while another was replaced with a cutting-edge SEW-EURODRIVE system on the M-1 conveyor, critical for ore transport between crushing stages. Notably, the new gearbox weighs five tons compared to the previous 15 tons, simplifying maintenance and installation without compromising power or durability.
Looking ahead, Central Mining plans to replace the last of five gearboxes by 2026, completing its modernization efforts. Meanwhile, the plant has nearly achieved full capacity utilization and improved operational efficiency by adopting energy-saving technologies. This comprehensive upgrade will reinforce the plant’s competitive position in the global mining and metals industry.
