Follow-up exploration targets Five Mile Brook anomalies; assay results pending for 3,000m winter drill program
Leocor Mining Inc. [CSE: LECR] has launched its 2025 summer exploration program at the Baie Verte Copper-Gold Project in Newfoundland, Canada. The program begins with a follow-up soil sampling campaign at the Five Mile Brook prospect, a target area identified in 2021 through preliminary soil geochemistry that returned multiple gold anomalies over 100 ppb.
The new work—led by Resourceful Geoscience Solutions—is designed to confirm earlier gold-in-soil anomalies and refine targets for future drilling. Key objectives include duplicate sampling of high-grade 2021 sites, northwest extension of the original lines, and infill sampling to close line spacing from 125 meters to 60 meters for better resolution.
Winter Drill Program Results Pending
This latest fieldwork follows completion of a 27-hole, 3,040-meter winter drill program, which tested the Copper Creek and Dorset prospects. At Copper Creek, 18 of 21 drillholes encountered visible chalcopyrite, with notable intersections including:
- Hole 25-CC-014: 2.3m (43.9m–46.2m) with 15% chalcopyrite and 10% pyrite
- Hole 25-CC-012: 13.4m (20m–33.4m) with 1% chalcopyrite
- Hole 25-CC-007: 4.4m (133.6m–138m) with 3% chalcopyrite
At the Dorset prospect, six holes (732m) were drilled. A highlight includes a 1.1m pyrite-mineralized quartz vein in Hole 25-DR-005.
Leocor is currently awaiting assay results from 1,671 samples from Copper Creek and 655 samples from Dorset. Assays are being processed by SGS, an accredited third-party lab.
Building a Contiguous Copper-Gold Corridor
Leocor’s Baie Verte package now includes the Copper Creek, Dorset, Dorset Extension, and Five Mile Brook projects, forming a ~2,000-hectare contiguous exploration corridor in one of Eastern Canada’s most prolific mining districts.
ScrapInsight Editorial View:
With visible mineralization confirmed in over 80% of drillholes at Copper Creek and systematic soil anomalies at Five Mile Brook, Leocor is rapidly maturing multiple targets across its Baie Verte holdings. Pending assay results could catalyze a new exploration phase and attract greater investor attention in a tight copper-gold market. The integrated approach—combining grassroots geochem, geophysics, and drilling—shows strong discipline for a junior explorer with a district-scale footprint.
