Establishing a Closed-Loop Supply Chain

TSR Group dismantles the retired rail vehicles first. The recycler separates the aluminum scrap from the ferrous metals carefully. Consequently, Hydro receives the high-purity aluminum scrap at its Belgium facility. Voestalpine processes the recovered ferrous scrap for its steel production operations. Hydro then melts the aluminum scrap into high-quality extrusion billets.


Securing Sustainable Rail Infrastructure

Furthermore, Netherlands-based Hydro facilities process these billets into new rail components. The Train2Train project drives circularity in aluminum railcar recycling while lowering carbon footprints.
