Titan Lithium Acquires Global Lithium to Expand Battery Material Supply

Lithium

UAE critical minerals group Titan Lithium acquires Global Lithium in a major transaction valued at A$333 million. Titan Australia signed a binding scheme implementation deed with Global Lithium on September 22. The agreement includes a A$120 million loan facility to support the Manna lithium project in Western Australia. Consequently, this critical funding mitigates operational risks during a period of significant market volatility.

Developing the Manna Lithium Project

The Manna lithium project targets its final investment decision by the end of 2026. Plant construction will begin immediately after project partners secure the final investment decision. As a result, project developers expect initial spodumene shipments to start in June 2028. Meanwhile, Global Lithium shareholders will vote on the proposed acquisition scheme in December.

Securing Long-Term Battery Feedstock

Titan Lithium acquires Global Lithium to secure long-term spodumene feedstock for its planned Abu Dhabi refinery. Titan is building a battery-grade processing facility in Abu Dhabi to expand its downstream presence. Therefore, the company aims to become the largest global lithium producer by 2030. Ultimately, this acquisition strengthens vertical integration across the expanding battery supply chain.

ScrapInsight Commentary

This strategic acquisition highlights how Middle Eastern capital is actively securing raw upstream battery materials ahead of the next demand cycle. Furthermore, integrating Australian spodumene resources with Abu Dhabi processing facilities will reshape global lithium supply chains and enhance regional refining hub competitiveness. Consequently, market participants should anticipate further cross-border M&A activity as battery chemical producers lock in long-term feedstock security.
