Tosyali Algerie Sets New World Records in DRI Production

Tosyali Algerie DRI

Tosyali Algerie recently achieved a massive milestone in DRI production at its Module II plant. In May 2026, the facility produced a record 248.6 thousand tonnes of direct-reduced iron. Furthermore, the plant reached an impressive average output of 334.1 tonnes per hour.

Record-Breaking Operational Efficiency

The plant consistently operates without any downtime, setting new benchmarks for Midrex-based facilities globally. As a result, the January–May average reached 316.9 tonnes per hour. This performance exceeds both the design capacity and previous annual production records.

Strengthening Global DRI Supply

DRI production remains a critical linchpin for modern, lower-carbon electric arc furnace steelmaking. Therefore, Tosyali Algerie’s ability to output 2.5 million tonnes annually provides essential feedstock for global markets. Meanwhile, the industry continues to invest in similar high-capacity complexes worldwide.

ScrapInsight Commentary

This production record demonstrates the maturity of high-capacity DRI modules in supporting modern steel demand. As steelmakers shift toward EAF pathways, the reliance on stable, high-quality DRI supply from optimized assets becomes a competitive necessity.
