PLN 800 Million Investment to Boost Steel Profile Output and Modernize Production

Cognor Holding S.A. is set to launch one of Europe’s most advanced rolling lines in Siemianowice Śląskie, located in Poland’s Silesian Voivodeship. The new facility, constructed on the grounds of the former Walcownia Rur “Jedność”, represents the largest ongoing industrial investment in the region, totaling PLN 800 million (approx. USD 200 million). More than PLN 300 million was allocated to construction work, led by contractor STRABAG, according to a report by Investmap.

The new rolling line will specialize in light steel profile production, with a maximum capacity of 450,000 tons per year. The facility spans 54,000 square meters and features three primary production halls. The largest hall measures 303 meters in length and 22 meters in height, underlining the scale of the operation.

Cognor CFO Krzysztof Zola confirmed that the plant will begin operating in June 2025, with ramp-up planned for Q3 and full-scale commercial output targeted for Q4. The launch will also generate approximately 150 new jobs, with staff sourced partly from the soon-to-be-closed Cognor plant in Zawiercie. The move reflects Cognor’s broader strategy to modernize production and consolidate operations at more efficient facilities.
